In response to questions posed by reporters on missing Iranian pilgrims after the tragic incident in Mina, Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif reassured that Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will follow up the case until discovering the destiny of the missing pilgrims.
He necessitated Saudi Hajj officials’ cooperation with Iranians over the case of missing pilgrims.
Furthermore the Iranian official reoffered his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and wished them patience to endure the loss of their beloved ones.
After the stampede in Mina, near Mecca on Thursday, 169 Iranian pilgrims passed away and 46 were injured. There are still 289 Iranian pilgrims who are missing after the incident.
Head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Saeid Owhadi said Friday that nearly 2,000 people have lost their lives in the Mina tragedy. This is while Saudi authorities say at least 717 people have been killed and nearly 863 others injured in the stampede.
